Our eco values are incredibly important to us - see below to find out what we have done so far and what we are working on. If you have any suggestions on how we can be greener just let us know.

  1. All of our packaging is recyclable (film wrap only recyclable at supermarkets)

  2. Some of that packaging is made from 100% recycled plastic.

  3. We now use prevented ocean plastic containers for our ‘Bites’ range. They are 30% POP and up to 70% recycled plastic (sometimes up to 10% virgin is needed for strength).

  4. All our cake boards are made from 95% recycled fibre. They are manufactured in the UK and they can be recycled. They are also biodegradable and compostable.

  5. LED lighting in all our main working areas.

  6. We have created a 14 acre Orchard across the road with 120 fruit trees and 3-4 acres of wildflowers.

  7. We have mixed recycling bins (paper, card, plastic) to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill.

  8. Our Cow Shed site factory is made from durisol blocks and is insulated with lamb’s wool.

  9. We use eco label accredited chemicals for our degreaser, washroom cleaner and toilet cleaner. As many of our chemicals as possible are concentrated and we decant them into re-usable bottles to save plastic.

  10. We use rechargeable batteries in our factory scales.

  11. We use Handelsbanken and Co-Operative for our banking as they are two of the greenest banks we could find with regards to fossil fuel investment.

  12. Our company car is fully electric.

  13. One of our chocolate suppliers is a member of Cocoa Horizons, a program that aims to create a sustainable future from producer to consumer.

  14. Our condensed milk and butter are made only using British milk.

  15. In our shop, we only use UK poultry, pork from local farms in Lancashire and beef predominately from the north of England.

  16. The carton board we use for packaging is from a sustainable source that is committed to banning deforestation.

  17. In March 2024 we foamed our factory roof, allowing for a saving of up to 90% on heat loss through the roof.
